Inaugural Tri-Star Saracen Horse Feeds League winners announced

Launched at the start of this season, the Tri-Star Saracen Horse Feeds leagues have been designed to encourage both intermediate level and grass roots competitors with the promise of superb prizes for the highest point scoring combinations across the qualifying events.

Supported by Saracen Horse Feeds, the Intermediate league comprises Oasby (1), Cholmondeley Castle, Belton, Burnham Market (1), Houghton and Osberton. The Grass Roots league is made up of Oasby (1), Burnham Market (1) & (2), Whitfield, Shelford Manor (1) & (2), Berkshire College, Cholmondeley Castle and Firle Place.

This year’s intermediate winners are Hailsham based Felicity Collins and RSH Contend Or, Felicity winning three days of training with Saracen Horse Feeds ambassador Carl Hester. Not only that, she also benefits from a tonne of Saracen horse feed and a selection of clothing and equipment.

Felicity and RSH Contend Or were the Young Rider CCI** winners at Houghton International in May, which earnt the pair a place on the bronze medal winning team at the Young Rider European Championships at Millstreet.

“I’m so excited to have won. The opportunity to train with a top rider of any discipline is often rare and in my case, having the finances to fund it is a real problem,” said Felicity. “The training with Carl will be invaluable to me as, like most event riders, dressage is my weakest phase and I’m always very keen to learn and improve.

“The series is a really good way of rewarding the consistency of horse and rider combinations, and makes riders even more competitive when the prizes are so brilliant!”

Nini French’s good season with Time For Harry gave her the runner up spot, also winning feed, clothing and equipment, as does Rosalind Canter for her performances at the relevant events on No Excuse.

The grass roots league is restricted to riders who have not competed at intermediate and above, with points won at BE80T, BE90 and BE100 levels. The feed, clothing and equipment prizes are the same as for the intermediate league while this year’s winners, Sophia Icke and Think Tank Think, will enjoy training with three of Saracen Horse Feeds brand ambassadors in dressage, showjumping and eventing.

Sophia, a Legionella Risk Assessor for a water treatment company, has an impressive record with Think Tank Think. The pair have posted eight top three finishes this season alone.

The runners up in this league are Pippa Carnell and Life And Soul II, with Laura Ridout and Coolodge Sox finishing third on the leaderboard.
