The spring eventing calendar simply wouldn’t be complete without the FEI Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials. For more than 25 years, riders at every level – from grassroots competitors to Olympic champions – have made this iconic Norfolk venue an early cornerstone of their season. The 2026 competition, running from 17-19 April, promises another unforgettable weekend of top‑class sport, family entertainment and coastal charm.

For riders, the event offers the chance to tackle the renowned cross country courses designed by Alec Lochore, who will also be shaping the track for the LA28 Olympic Games. His thoughtful, challenging and educational designs make Burnham Market a major early‑season draw for anyone looking to lay strong foundations for the year ahead. This year also sees the introduction of the GOBE100, giving even more horses and riders the opportunity to experience the thrill of competing at Burnham Market. Entries for all classes open on 9 March.

Owners and supporters can enjoy some of the best views in eventing. With its dramatic showjumping amphitheatre, sweeping cross country vistas and the wild North Norfolk coastline as a backdrop, Burnham Market offers an atmosphere that is hard to match. It’s also the perfect excuse for a spring weekend away – unspoilt beaches, award‑winning seafood and the area’s famously relaxed lifestyle are all within easy reach.

For families and spectators, the weekend offers no shortage of entertainment. The bustling tradestand village is packed with popular brands, fabulous food and treats for every member of the family. Add falconry displays, terrier racing, a funfair and the ever‑popular Woolly Warriors, and Burnham Market promises an unmissable day out for riders, owners, supporters and spectators alike.

Tickets are available online or on the gate. Prices start from just £10 for an adult and £4 for under 15s, and parking is free. Gates open at 8am each morning, with competition getting underway at 9am (Friday and Saturday) and 8am on Sunday.

For those unable to attend, full coverage of Saturday and Sunday’s action will be available to watch live and on demand via ClipMyHorse.TV
