Entries now open for FEI Burnham Market

Entries are officially open for this year’s FEI Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials (17-19 April), giving riders the chance to secure their place at one of Norfolk’s premier eventing fixtures.

With classes from BE100 through to CCI4*-S, the event offers opportunities for horses and riders across the levels to enjoy a weekend of competition on the North Norfolk coast. Those making the trip can look forward to beautifully built courses, a fabulous setting, and the energy of a supportive crowd – the perfect environment for horses to learn, progress, and grow in confidence.

Just minutes away from the coastline, the Horse Trials is an ideal excuse for a spring getaway: think scenic beach walks, fresh sea air, and classic fish and chips after a day of top‑class sport. Combined with a relaxed early‑season atmosphere and some of the best viewing in eventing, Burnham Market offers a memorable weekend for riders, owners, and supporters alike.

Burnham Market’s renowned courses are designed by event organiser, Alec Lochore – cross country course designer for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Alec’s tracks are known for being honest, educational, and beautifully built: they challenge riders and ask plenty of questions, while giving horses the confidence to progress.

Every competitor will have the chance to jump in the main arena, a natural amphitheatre that creates a real buzz thanks to its unique atmosphere and enthusiastic spectators. It’s a stage where riders can shine and young horses can gain invaluable experience.

This year also sees the introduction of a GO BE100 class at Burnham Market, widening access to this popular event. GO BE allows riders to compete without a BE membership and without results being added to a BE record. Competitors in this class will take on the BE100 track, which makes excellent use of some of the venue’s best terrain, including the iconic water complex.

“We’re delighted to open entries for 2026 and to welcome riders back to Burnham Market,” said Jenny Meiklejohn, Event Organiser for Musketeer Event Management. “This event has always been about giving horses the chance to learn and progress and, with classes from BE100 up to CCI4*-S, there’s something for every stage of the journey. It’s a wonderful place to visit early in the season and enjoy everything North Norfolk has to offer.

“Introducing the GO BE100 classes is an exciting addition, giving more riders the opportunity to experience this event and to educate young horses in a supportive, high‑quality environment.

“Burnham Market is special – not just for the sport, but for the whole experience. Riders, owners, and supporters love coming to North Norfolk in the spring, and we’re thrilled to open entries for another great year.”
