With just over a week to go until riders from across the country make their way to North Norfolk for the Bacon.co.uk Burnham Market International Horse Trials, the final preparations are being actioned to ensure that no stone is left unturned. An additional £1,000 has been added to the CIC3* prize pool, and the Organisers are looking forward to welcoming riders from 16 nations [Great Britain, Australia, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, India, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand, Sweden, Thailand, Russia, and the USA].
Six hundred horses are due to run over the three days, with some of the biggest names in the sport amongst them: British team stalwarts William Fox-Pitt, Pippa Funnell and Nicola Wilson; New Zealand big guns Andrew Nicholson, Caroline Powell and Mark Todd; and Australia’s Andrew Hoy, Bill Levett and Paul Tapner to name a few.
They join the up and coming stars of the future, including Izzy Taylor, Nicky Roncoroni and Jodie Amos. With the FEI European Championships on home soil this year, and therefore 12 riders to be chosen to represent Great Britain, there will be plenty of jostling to catch the eye of the Selectors.
Even at this late stage, new sponsors are signing up to be part of the action. The latest to join forces with Musketeer Events is Wordingham Plant Hire who have been providing all the machinery necessary for building the exciting new fences on course. All looks set for a hugely successful event this Easter weekend, Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th April.
