Reflecting on three days of great sport at Cirencester Park
Today saw the conclusion of three days of fantastic sport set within the stunning grounds of Cirencester Park. It is a number of decades since affiliated competition was last held within the grounds and it is fair to say that its return has been warmly welcomed by riders and supporters alike, with more than 700 horses competing over the three days.
“It’s a beautiful place that gave us such a great canvas to work with,” said Event Director, Alec Lochore. “It’s wonderful to be bringing eventing back here. It’s a lovely piece of ground, this old turf works really well, and the estate has been great to work with; so, it’s really exciting.”
Today’s action was focused on the Novice course, with five Novice Sections running alongside an Open Novice, Open Novice Under 18 and Open Intermediate Under 21.
Sweden’s Ludwig Svennerstal added to the Intermediate Section B success he enjoyed earlier in the weekend by taking the Novice Section Q win with Sir Villmer. A smart dressage performance gave the pair an advantage going into the jumping phases, where they sealed the victory with clears across the board.
Laura Collett also finished the event with a brace of wins, adding first place in today’s Novice Section S with Fein Cera Gravelotte to the Intermediate Section F title she won on Friday. The other Novice winners on Sunday were Imogen Murray and Jezebel HDH (Section O), Sammi Birch and Jutopia (Section P) and Flora Harris and Dysart Elite (Section R).
