Action got underway at the 2022 FEI Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials today (14 April 2021), with the first riders completing their dressage tests in the CCI-S 3* and CCI-S 4* classes.
Oliver Townend and his Olympic Team Gold medal winning partner, Ballaghmor Class went straight to the top of the scoresheet after posting a score of 25.2 in Section B of the CCI-S 4*. They finished the day ahead of Pippa Funnell and the current Burghley winner, MGH Grafton Street in second (26.6) and Dani Evans and Hollywood Dancer in third (27.9).
In Section C of the CCI-S 4* Mollie Summerland currently holds the lead with her Luhmuhlen winner, Charly Van Ter Heiden. Their score of 25.7 puts them just ahead of Piggy March and Brookfield Inocent in second (26.9) and Nicola Wilson and Coolparks Sarco in third (28.3)
“He was really good and gave me a good feeling,” said Mollie. “This is our final run before hopefully heading to Badminton, so it was nice that he had a good positive last test run through today and I’m looking forward to seeing if her can do the same in a couple of weeks time.”
