Day three highlights from the Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International Horse Trials
We’ve enjoyed a stunning third day in the sun here at the Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International Horse Trials.
There were very promising performances from some lovely young horses in the CCI2*L cross country, with Emily King and Imposant maintaining their overnight lead and Kitty King and MHS Monbeg Junior also completing on their dressage score to remain in second.
Two superb rounds, clear inside the time, saw Ros Canter retain her lead in both CCI3*L sections with Shannondale Nadia (Section B ) and Izilot DHI (Section C).
Oliver Jackson heads into tomorrow’s showjumping in second place in 3* Section B and as the current leader in The Young Rider National Championships. Less than one fence separates the top five riders in this National u21 Championship – so we are all set for an exciting conclusion!
In the CCIS 4*O competition, Alex Hua Tian leads after the dressage and showjumping with Jilsonne Van Bareelhof, just ahead of William Fox-Pitt and Little Fire. The first leg of the 2021 FEI Nation’s Cup also got underway today, with Team GB holding the lead after dressage and showjumping, followed by Team Ireland in second and Australia, third. Tomorrow begins with the trot up for the 2* and 3* long format classes, before showjumping starts at 10am. The 4* cross country gets underway at 11am.
