France’s Astier Nicolas was the first rider to achieve a sub-30 score, posting 28.1 with Babylon De Gamma. Astier finishes the first day with two horses currently inside the top five in the CCI-S 3* – Babylon De Gamma in third and Dirty Old Town in fifth with a score of 28.9.

The best score of the day came from Great Britain’s Selina Milnes and the 8-year-old gelding Cooley Snapchat, owned by Mr and Mrs William Rucker. They delivered a score of 26.1 to hold the lead at this halfway point in the dressage phase.

Gemma Tattersall, competing under her new married name of Gemma Stevens, completes the top three at the end of day one. Gemma and the 10-year-old gelding Flash Cooley, owned by Pru Dawes, are lying second on a score of 27.1.
