Admission:  The admission entitles spectators to enter the event site, which includes the trade stand area, cross country course and Houghton Hall Park, but will not gain access to Houghton Hall itself or Houghton Gardens.  Should you wish to visit the Hall or Gardens, please visit

Picnic Parking:  There are a limited number of parking places available on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May  near to the water jump, which will provide a fabulous place to have a picnic in the middle of the cross country course.  These parking places can only be purchased in advance and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  The price is for parking only and does not include any vehicle occupants, these must be purchased separately.  (No minibuses or caravans)

Children:  Children under the age of 5 are free.  The child tariff refers to children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old.

Caravan and Camping

We are delighted to offer our visitors the exclusive chance to stay on-site at the Houghton International Horse Trials. The campsite is just a short walk from the main arena and will have toilets and shower facilities. There are a variety of different options available, depending on whether you wish to stay for the whole event, the weekend or just a night.  Caravans, motorhomes, tents and horseboxes are all welcome. The campsite will be open from 12 noon on Wednesday 24th May – Sunday 28th May 2017. For each booked pitch, you will receive the following:

– 1 x Campsite vehicle pass, admitting either a car with caravan or tent, a motorhome or a horsebox
– 2 x Admission tickets for the relevant days (unless purchasing single nights, when admission must be purchased separately)

Terms and Conditions

  • Campsite pitches must be purchased in advance
  • The Camping Box Office closes on Monday 15th May 2017 – no bookings for the campsite will be taken after this date
  • Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian – no under 18s may camp unsupervised.  The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission to unaccompanied under 18s
  • Dogs are permitted, but must be kept on leads at all times.  Owners must clear up after their dogs and under no circumstances are dogs to be left in caravans or vehicles during the day
  • Generators are permitted, providing they are appropriately earthed and fuel is stored correctly
  • Campers are requested to respect other guests and keep the noise (including generator noise) to a reasonable level – quiet hours will be in effect between 11pm and 7am.  Any campers repeatedly making excessive noise or behaving in an antisocial manner may be ejected from the camp site at the organiser’s discretion – no refunds will be given
  • Refunds: No duplicate tickets can be issued or any refund made in respect of any lost, forgotten, unused or surplus car or caravan pass or admission tickets.
  • Abandonment:  No refunds will be made on the day.  If the event is cancelled, prepaid tickets will be refunded in full in respect of any day that is cancelled before the start of that day’s competition.  In respect of items covering the whole event the following proportions will be refunded; cancelled before Thursday starts 100%, before Friday 85%, before Saturday 60%, before Sunday 15%.
